Managing DirectorFor more than 30 years, Mike Bearer has provided comprehensive wealth management services to a variety of clients, particularly in the areas of investment planning, estate planning, income tax planning, and retirement planning.In 2003, 2004, and 2005, he was recognized by The Robb Report Worth magazine as one of the top 100 wealth advisors in the United States. Prior to forming Aegis, Mike was a Partner and East Zone Director of Private Client Services (“PCS”) at Ernst & Young. Having passed the 1991 national Personal Financial Specialist examination with highest distinction, Mike holds the PFS designation from the American Institute of CPAs. In addition, he has earned the Certified Financial Planner designation of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. and the Certified Investment Management Analyst designation from the Investment Management Consultants Association.He has been a national lecturer in various education programs as well as a frequent speaker on topics involving financial planning, estate planning, charitable giving, investment planning, and asset allocation.

Rachel E. Kim, CPA, CFP®, CIMA®
Director
Rachel Kim serves individuals, families, trusts, and private foundations as a Director of Aegis Wealth Management where she specializes in providing sophisticated and integrated investment advisory services and tax, retirement, estate, and other general planning services.Prior to forming Aegis, Rachel was a Manager in the Private Client Services practice of Ernst & Young. She worked with high net worth clients and executives on integrated wealth management, providing advice on a wide variety of financial planning and tax related issues. Rachel was with Ernst & Young for nearly nine years and worked as an auditor before joining the Private Client Services practice.Rachel is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Virginia, and has earned the Certified Financial Planner designation of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. and the Certified Investment Management Analyst designation from the Investment Management Consultants Association. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Virginia.Paul A. Meloan, J.D., CFP®
DirectorPrior to the formation of Aegis, Paul Meloan was a founding member of Chain Bridge Advisors LLC, listed by Bloomberg Wealth Manager as one of the leading wealth management firms in the U.S. for 2002, 2003 and 2004. At Chain Bridge, as well as in his prior association with Ernst & Young as a Manager in the Private Client Service practice, Paul worked with wealthy families on financial planning, investment management, tax and philanthropic planning issues. He has earned the Certified Financial Planner designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. and is treasurer of the Metro D.C. chapter of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).A graduate of the University of Michigan where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history and the American University (Washington, DC) where he earned his law degree, Paul is an avid endurance athlete and finisher of numerous marathons and triathlons, including the 2004 Hawaii Ironman triathlon.

DirectorViveka Ryn works with wealthy families and individuals on a variety of financial planning matters, including investment management, cash flow, retirement and tax planning. She also provides investment consulting services to institutional clients, including corporations, trusts and foundations. Prior to forming Aegis, Viveka was a Manager in the Private Client Services practice of Ernst & Young where she provided investment advisory and financial planning services to individuals and charitable organizations. Viveka is a graduate of Georgetown University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in History, and of the University of Maryland, where she earned a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Finance, Viveka previously worked in the Financial Planning and Analysis department of USAirways and as Business Manager of Wide World of Wines, a boutique fine wine brokerage firm. She has earned the Certified Investment Management Analyst designation from the Investment Management Consultants Association.
